Home - The Beautiful South West.

Living in Cornwall, in the beautiful South West of England provides so much opportunity to get outdoors and photograph stunning landscapes, sea scapes, coastlines and nature. It is not surprising therefore, that it also hosts some incredible wedding venues that attract many couples from all over the UK to travel to Devon and Cornwall to get married. Beach wedding venues, stately homes, beautiful gardens and rustic barns, you name it, Devon and Cornwall have it! We are spoilt for choice down here, with so many venues providing the most stunning backdrops for your wedding. As a photographer (who absolutely loves everything the ocean has to offer) there is no better place, in my opinion, to be based. The opportunity to photograph weddings on the beach is  exhaustive.

For those who would prefer rolling hills, rugged moorlands or lush green fields as the backdrop for their wedding, then the South West’s farming industry means that there are plenty of rustic barn wedding venues situated in the most outstanding rural landscapes.

For the alternative bride and boho bride, so many venues allow you complete flexibility over planning your wedding to suit you, providing you with a blank canvas to tailor your day. As a wedding photographer this is especially exciting as I get to photograph some truly unique weddings. Devon and Cornwall really has it all and I wanted to share just some (not all as the blog would probably be too long for most to bother to read) of my favourites in this blog…

Treyarnon, North Cornwall

The Barn at South Milton - South Hams, Devon.

Beach wedding meets rustic barn. If you just can’t decide whether you would prefer a beach wedding theme or a rural, rustic barn wedding then look no further. You can have both! The Barns at South Milton offers a huge open plan barn wedding that is situated within a stones throw from the beautiful South Milton sands. You have total flexibility over your day and an incredible blank canvas to work with, with stunning views overlooking the bay. Paul and Paula who own the site are not only super helpful and friendly but go out of their way to make your day run smoothly. A truly spectacular back drop and venue with so much to offer. I had to mention this one first as I also chose this wedding venue for my own wedding in 2019 - that is how much I love it!

The Rockpool - Godrevy, Cornwall.

As far as beach weddings go, this wedding venue is situated on quite possibly one of my favourite  beaches in Cornwall. You can walk amongst the sand dunes to the beach within minutes. The beach faces North West so as a photographer this venue provides the perfect opportunity for sunset wedding photographs to die for.

There is no shortage of incredibly beautiful wedding venues in the South West and the ones above are just some of my personal favourites, which also offer exceptional photo opportunities. The demand is high as a result and some venues and suppliers only conduct a limited number of weddings each year so if you are thinking of planning a wedding in Devon and Cornwall then you need to be quick. Some venues and suppliers will easily book up two years in advance. Therefore, to be sure you get what you want - get in their quick!

As I mentioned in my previous blog (This is me!) I love to photograph sea scapes and marine scenes and will share some of my favourite destinations to photograph in another blog! If you are just starting to plan your wedding then please get in touch and I can also point you in the direction of some other excellent local suppliers.
